Abstract

Faith-based organisations (FBOs) play a key role in processes of development in many parts of the world. However, very little systematic research has been conducted on the development or impact of this growing sector. This report is part of the Religions and Development Research Programme's wider interest in understanding the impact of FBOs on processes of development, and looks particularly at FBO activities in Pakistan. Drawing on secondary sources, as well as interviews with key informants, the report provides a broad overview of FBOs and their activities in various development-related areas, including education, healthcare, social welfare and the alleviation of poverty.
