THE NEW TESTAMENT IN GREEK: THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ST. JOHN
ELECTRONIC EDITION OF VOLUME TWO: THE MAJUSCULES

BRIEF INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ELECTRONIC EDITION

The transcripts can be accessed through the top frame. Select the manuscript from the drop-down list in the title bar. For details of each witness, see the manuscripts page.
To see this witness as continuous text, click on the Chapter button. This displays one chapter at a time, starting off with the Inscriptio and any prefatory material. To move to another chapter, click on the chapter numbers at the top and bottom of each page. Click on the blue verse number to go to the critical apparatus for that verse. Selecting "View by Page" in Chapter View displays the manuscript formatted in Page View at that point in the text. Many formatting details in Page View are not available in Chapter View.
To go directly to a fully-formatted transcription of a single manuscript, select the witness in the title bar and click on the Page button. This gives the manuscript one page at a time, with the column and line breaks as they appear in that witness. Navigate to the neighbouring page using the "Previous" and "Next" buttons. Nearby folios can be selected from the list at the top, or a folio or page number can be entered directly into the box on the right. Click on the blue verse number to go to the critical apparatus of all the manuscripts for that verse. To move to Chapter View at the same point in the manuscript, click on "View by Chapter".

To access the critical apparatus, click on "Go to Apparatus" in the top frame. The verse selection can be changed using the "Previous" and "Next" links, or by entering the reference in the "Quick find" box and clicking "Go!". Clicking on the blue siglum for each manuscript will display a lineated transcription in the right-hand frame of the page. These can also be selected from the drop-down box in this frame. Note that the hyperlink from the siglum will not work when manuscripts have been corrected; instead, select the manuscript from the drop-down list.

To view the transcripts correctly, your browser will need to be enabled for Unicode. Given some inconsistencies in displaying Greek characters, we recommend the use of the freely-available Firefox browser.
